Festival Saturday

Bohemian National Hall – 321 E. 73rd St.

Saturday, April 22, 2017

For information on 2018’s Saturday programming, visit nytravfest.com/empower

Bohemian National Hall is the home of Czech culture in New York City. On Festival Saturday, you’ll have plenty of chances to experience it, not just through the beauty of the building itself, but through a talk by CzechTourism’s Jiri Duzar, presentations by special guests from CZ, an exhibition on “Fashion with a Story” arranged by Czech Center, and an evening reception/performance.

In addition to our Czech friends, we will have curry and Sawanoi brand sake tastings from Ozawa brewery in Tokyo presented by Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau, plus gift bags for those who complete a quick survey.

In the Ballroom, enjoy a massage, sit and talk to experts on tech, miles & points, and a variety of other aspects of travel. For lunch, join us for curry and Itoen ready-to-drink green tea from GO!GO!CURRY! USA.

Our Innovation Mainstage in the Library will focus on issues surrounding travel, technology, and startups. In the Multi-Purpose Room, you’ll be able to participate in think tanks on Culture, Achieving Community Potential through Tourism, and Adventure.

Enter the Skybox for our sessions on Livestreaming, Music Roundtable, Helping Refugees, and Well-Designed and Well-Managed Tourism.

The Cinema will feature travel films all day and a screening/session run by Wladyzlaw Labuda.

Innovation Panel: How to Build your Startup to be Successful in Tomorrow’s Travel and Hospitality Industry

12:30pm-1:30pm

Alex Shashou, CoFounder & President of Hotel Operations & Communications Platform, ALICE, will host this panel discussion among 4 of New York City’s top Travel and Hospitality minds.

David Ambrose – Managing Director, Steadfast Venture Capital

Deanna Ting – Hospitality Editor, Skift

Paul Tumpowsky – Founder & CEO, Skylark

Coming from a diverse set of experiences, the group will share their insights, experience and candid opinions on starting companies. The speakers will cover:

  • What the first three months of a startup really looks like.
  • The differences between consumer and enterprise businesses in Travel.
  • How to present your company to the stakeholders that make it: your customers, your new hires and of course, the press.
  • What companies they might start today based on their experience over the last few years.

The group will share their experiences of growing businesses in the travel space and the challenges they and their networks have faced.
