ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS & MUSICIANS

KAREN SHELLEY:
Karen began practicing yoga in 2004 as a way to integrate a healthy balance of movement and stillness into her life. Today, she delivers this balance to her students through studio classes and global yoga retreats. Her vinyasa training was at Kula Yoga Project in New York City under the direction of Nikki Vilella, and her restorative yoga training was with Judith Hanson Lasater through the Relax and Renew program. Karen weaves energy, fluidity, play, stillness, and tons of hands-on assists into her teaching, and blends a strong, internal metronome with the precision and alignment of Iyengar foundations.

ADITI DHRUV:
Aditi first came to yoga through her study of classical Indian dance forms, and has been practicing for over fifteen years. She is Yoga Alliance certified at the 200-hour level, and completed her yoga teacher training with Alison West/Yoga Union in New York City. She has also completed Prenatal and Therapeutics training at Integral Yoga Institute in New York City.  Aditi has studied with respected New York-based teachers including Alison West, Deborah Wolk, and Jonathan Fitz-Gordon as well as teachers in Mumbai and Bangalore. Her light-hearted classes are informed by her extensive ongoing dance training and practice in the Vinyasa and Iyengar traditions; and focus on teaching students a series of poses while integrating the physical, subtle, and spiritual bodies, through precise alignment and breath-focused movement.

TJ HALLIDAY:
Halliday has been actively studying the mind-body connection and our capacity for self-healing for over 20 years through yoga and other mindfulness-based practices, and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology + Mind Body Connection at Columbia University. After struggling with anxiety from childhood, TJ found yoga to be the most stabilizing and transformative therapy for coping and has since become a champion of integrating restorative and mindfulness tools into her practice and teachings. She has studied with Yoga for Anxiety + Depression pioneers Amy Weintraub, Bo Forbes and Alison West, as well as with world-renowned Vipassana meditation teacher Sharon Salzberg. Out of this work came her own highly effective Emotional Wellness workshop series which addresses mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, along with ways to build resiliency. Halliday is also an advocate for women's mental health and works with Prenatal women through yoga and mindfulness practices. She mentors with respected perinatal care expert Lara Kohn-Thompson and is expected to complete requirements towards a Yoga for Labor + Delivery certification in March 2017. Visit www.tjhalliday.com for more details.
